We also provide worry free all inclusive transportation service for many of the winery passport programs. Throughout the course of the year the wineries of Niagara on Lake and the Bench participate in tasting ‘passport’ programs. These include, Days of Wine and Chocolate (February) , Sips & Sizzle (May), Taste of the Season (June), and the Icewine Festival (January). These highly anticipated annual events showcase a food/dessert paired perfectly with Niagara Wines at each of the wineries on the itinerary. Niagara’s dozens of wineries are eager to share their distinctive personalities and products with visitors through a range of unique events. From concerts and theatre in the vineyard, to unique experiences designed to let you try your hand at working at a winery, and creatively themed dining events, there’s always something happening at our wineries. There are also a number of annual wine festivals and touring programs offered throughout the year that have been designed to expose visitors to the diversity of Niagara’s wine scene.
Events designed to help you delve into a specific variety of wine
In January, the Niagara Icewine Festival celebrates one of Canada’s most iconic products. Activities include an Icewine Gala and a winery touring program.
Throughout January, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival heats things up in a celebration of Canada’s liquid gold that includes an Icewine Village, a cocktail competition as well as dozens of events at area wineries and restaurants.
During July’s International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration, or I4C, wineries from around the world descend on Niagara for a three-day celebration of all things Chardonnay that features great events, tastings, seminars and even a Sommelier Boot Camp.
Events designed to allow you to experience a broad selection of wines
In January, Twenty Valley’s Winter Winefest pays tribute to Icewine, sparkling wine and premium VQA wines at this outdoor festival on Jordan Village’s Main Street. The event also includes a touring program at local wineries.
March’s Cuvée Gala has earned a reputation as one of the wine industry’s hottest events where hundreds of food and wine enthusiasts savour Ontario’s best along side winemakers and industry insiders. The fun continues throughout the weekend with Cuvée’s en Route touring program.
During June’s Niagara New Vintage Festival, over 35 wineries celebrate the start of the new vintage with special events, tastings and a touring program.
The Niagara Wine Festival in September is an annual wine country celebration featuring 100+ events including tastings, a touring program, concerts and one of Canada’s largest street parades.
Events designed to introduce you to unique wine and food pairings
Wrap up winter on a sweet note with the Days of Wine and Chocolate touring program. On weekends in February the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake feature decadent wine and chocolate pairings with a few unexpected twists.
In April and May, Twenty Valley’s Get Fresh touring program allows you to sample new vintage aromatic wines paired with fresh spring flavours from some of the area’s top chefs.
During May’s Wine and Herb touring program you can explore the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake as they feature herb-themed food pairing matched to a premium VQA wine selected to highlight the flavour and aroma of the herb.
